What is tinnitus and hyperacusis?

What is tinnitus?

Tinnitus is any sound a person can hear in the absence of an external sound. It can be a ringing, buzzing, hissing, clicking, crackling or pulsating sound. It can be intermittent or constant.

Pulsatile tinnitus is a sound that is in time with the pulse.

There are many causes of tinnitus hence it needs medical evaluation to determine the cause; Tinnitus is treatable and we offer treatment services in our clinic.

What is Hyperacusis?

Hyperacusis is a sensitivity to normal level sounds that can cause a feeling of discomfort or pain in one or both ears. It can occur by itself or associated with tinnitus.

There are many causes of hyperacusis, hence why it needs a full medical evaluation to determine the cause. Hyperacusis is treatable and we offer treatment in our clinic.
